The Charge - TREASON: the attempt to overthrow ones own government by waging war or killing its head of state

Research (10 marks) You will be required to do research on that character or position in the courtroom to understand what you will be doing. You may use books, articles or internet sources to do your research Please work with those on your team (ie: either the defense or prosecution team) Written component (20 marks) Based on your specific role, you will have a specific written component you will be required to hand in before or at the end of the trial Performance/ Participation (20 marks) You will be marked on your participation in this project over the whole four days You need to display that you are on task during the first two days of research and writing/preparing for the trial, working both collaboratively and individually

On the Last Day:

I will be the judge during the trial. This will allow for all characters to be assessed fairly and for me to keep order in the classroom! I will also determine the sentence based on the jurys verdict of the trial, which itself will be based on your research and your role execution. While completing this project, you should keep the following in mind: How was this trial different than the real Louis Riel trial? Was our sentence more or less fair than the one Louis Riel was actually given? If you were the judge, what would your sentence be?
