I believe schools should supply the necessary and
appropriate resources to accommodate struggling readers,
T believe this because students with reading difficulties
require additional scaffolding and support beyond
mainstream curriculum, With the Lack of appropriate
resources, students will continue falling behind,
I believe the classroom environment should be conducive
lo Learning, I believe this because different types of
learning can be fostered through changes in the
environment. A quiet environment free of distractions is
for efficient and effective teaching of basic skills, At
other times, students should be encouraged to freely
participate in discussion of content and meaning,
I believe that the teacher should be knowledgeable in
prevention and intervention strategies for struggling
readers. I this because methods of prevention and
intervention, such as explicit instruction, can be used to
support all Levels of readers, More direct and explicit
instruction helps students to understand the importance
of what they're Learning, ahd requires students bo focus
‘on the skill-building at hand,
I believe teachers should know each of their students and
strive to understand and apply the best methods and
pedagogy to help them succeed. I believe this because not
all students Learn tn the same way, many may have
obstacles outside of school that affect their reading
performance, and some need more support or resources
than others, Accommodations, adaptations, and
modifications (while not applicable to everyone) can be
beneficial for all students,
I believe the reading content should be age and Level
appropriate, and on topics that the reader will relate to or
find interest in, Students are more motivated to read when
the material is relevant bo their Lives. When content is age
and Level appropriate, students have a higher rate of
success, and gain self-confidence when they can see their
improvernent,
