    1) Connect a laptop to a locomotive system using specific connections as shown in a figure. 2) Turn the BL-Key to the "D" position to start diagnostic mode. 3) Access diagnostic software on the laptop that allows communication with and transmission of diagnostic data from the locomotive system. 4) Fault messages from the last 3 months are saved on the laptop and can be viewed by date and time along with the number of repetitions for each fault.
