2013-2014 ASTI PTSA FUNDANEED PROJECTS

Lets strive to raise at least $50,000 to continue supporting the following programs:
Technology / Computer Lab - $ 20,000 Students and teachers need sustainable technology to access skills and tools to teach and learn. PTSA funds will support the use of a mixed platform of technology hardware and software including laptops, desktops, iPads/tablets, iPods, software, and applications that enhance the curriculum; and support new wireless platform. Computer lab needs to be updated with current technology software programs and hardware. Math Department Support - $ 2,000 Help support the success of all mathematics students at ASTI as we move toward the Common Core Standards and help students develop deeper knowledge of concepts at all course levels, specifically those involving graphical translations and transformations. Help ASTI Staff incorporate technology into mathematics courses at all levels, and for the students to have individual licenses to use the software both at school and at home. In order to implement the program effectively, this require professional development and module key to customizing the use of the software for instruction at each course level in addition to the software. Professional Development - $5,000 Effective teachers have the most significant impact on student achievement. help augment ASTIs professional development budget to provide teachers collaborative time, enable them to attend top -rated conferences and purchase instructional materials, and help fund literacy, special education, and math coaches.. ( National Board for Professional Teaching Standards (NBPTS) Certification & Miscellaneous Professional Development) Student Group Support - $27,500 Strengthen ASTIs Robotics & MUN program by providing them the resources and support to attend competitions and conferences as well as the materials they need. ( ASTI Robotics, Model United Nation, Prom/Graduation, Class Field Trips) Teacher Supplies - $2,500 While the school provides basic classroom supplies and materials, supplemental funds allow teachers to purchase additional supplies specific to their course needs. Community Garden - $ 15,000 Help bring both nature and agriculture to life on campus. The community garden will provide healthy produce in addition to fostering educational enrichment to young adults and other interested participants. Student Planners - $1, 600 ASTI students (lower classmen) will be required to use a daily planner to record all their homework, assignment due dates and other critical information. School Site Improvement - $ 3,000 With the integration of ASTI Administrators, ASTI School Site Council and PTSA, funds are disbursed to maintain and improve the ASTI campus and support the ASTI Legacy projects. ( Campus Beautification, Improvement and Maintenance)
