The Tajmahal
The Tajmahal is one of the most architectural beauty and historical monument in the world. The Tajmahal is a tomb built in 17th century by Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan in memory of his wife, Mumtaz Mahal who died in 1631. It is situated on the bank of Yamuna River in Agra in India. It is one of the Indias biggest tourist attractions. The construction of the Tajmahal began around 1632 and was completed around 1653. Thousands of workers worked for twenty one years to complete it. The Tajmahal has an area of 1003 acres or 405 hectares. The building is made of pure white and colored marble stone. There is large dome above the center of the building. The bodies of Shah Jahan and his wife Mumtaz lie in two graves below this dome. The Tajmahal is surrounded by a beautiful garden and there is long pool out in front of the building. Thousands of visitor come to see this wonderful building in Agra every year. It was chosen as one of the Seven Wonders of the World. It has listed as UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Tajmahal is a great example of Mughal architecture.
