Prologue

Do you believe in magic? Tawnypelt, Russetfur and Onepaw were on ShadowClan patrol. Tawnypelt stopped and sniffed the air. What is it? asked Russetfur. I dont know, admitted Tawnypelt, Probably a loner. A loner? Ha! smirked a voice from the shadows. Onepaw growled at the sound. In the shadows, icy blue eyes pierced the darkness. Slowly, a blue paw stepped into the light. Suddenly, a black figure pounced on Tawnypelt, pinning her onto her back. Onepaw pulled on her tail, but nothing happened. Russetfur pulled him back. Warn the clan! she said pushing him into the bushes. Meanwhile, Tawnypelt looked at the black cats face. It was covered with purple spots! The black cat raised one paw, ready to strike. You dont expect to win that easily, do you? asked Russetfur, preparing

to leap. Oh, but I do! said the black cat as an orange figure pounced onto Russetfur, strangling her. The black cat smirked and raised her paw once more. As Tawnypelt looked up helplessly, the black cat slashed at her. The black cat backed away from Tawnypelt, who was now dead. Russetfur struggled away from the orange cat (who appeared to have a pattern of red flames on his coat), panting heavily. She looked from lifeless Tawnypelt to the smirking black cat and glared, only to see a flash of fire in the corner of her eye. She yelped and ran into the bushes. We are MagicClan, shouted the black cat, And we rule this forest!

Chapter 1
Once Russetfur got to the clan camp, she was panting and yelled Some kind of clan is in our territory! Blackstar launched himself from the

high rock and landed in front of Russetfur. What happened to you and Onepaw? He came back then fainted and I was worried. He asked with worry in his eyes. We were on a border patrol and ran into these strange cats on the way Russetfur trailed off. Where is Tawnypelt? Blackstar asked and broke into her thoughts. She was killed by Im guessing the leader. Russetfur said sadly. Looks of despair started to cross the faces of the cats around Russetfur. We need to tell Brambleclaw. Said Russetfur. Ok, who is going to tell Brambleclaw? asked Blackstar. All of the sudden a black cat with purple spots bursts through the camp entrance.
