Creative Writing: I can use structure, metaphors, similes and metaphors, and personication to add to the meaning of my work, and can use a concept map to plan my work . Vocabulary: I know how to use sentence structure, analogies and similes to understand meaning of new vocabulary. Non Fiction Writing : I understand and can put into practice the different structural elements that go into planning and writing a non-ction essay . Grammar: I correctly use superlative adjectives and adverbial subordinate clauses

Reading Skills
I can explain the way the conicts between characters in Holes relates to my world, and I can identify the roles of Antagonists and Protagonists in contributing to the themes in the book. I can explain the different techniques the author uses in the Giver to convey her meaning

I have my own answers to the questions: what is history? what is culture? what is community? I can explain the role of story telling in creating the culture I am studying, and how those stories contribute to its government and mode of living (economy) I can explain how and why the community I am studying divided itself both geographically and socially, and can compare how they divided gender roles to how gender roles are divided in our community today. I can compare and evaluate two different ways societies solve conicts based on different cultural expectations, and can compare and contrast the culture the indigenous community I am studying lives in TODAY. I can use the earth charter to think about and react to interactions around me.

Skills
I know how to work with and compare to primary sources. I know how to read and criticize a news article and connect current events to the time period I am studying in the past I know how to conduct and evaluate an interviews. I know how to work with different kinds of maps to explain and compare the ways that different societies are organized
