Jabberwocky Mrs. Emerick English 10H 9-5-13 Language is from God One of the qualities of human kind that distinguishes us from other species, and that relates us closely with our Father in Heaven, is the ability to communicate using language (BYU professor of Germanic languages and linguistics, Randall Jones). Language is what makes the world go round and without language we would be so behind on all of our technology and inventions. Where did language come from, this is the question that a lot of people are curious about. I believe that language comes from God because he made man in His image and by using only His words He created everything in the universe (Genesis 1:3-27). God created every single language because the Tower of Babel (Genesis 1:1-9). God changes each persons language and spread them over all the earth. God created language to let us communicate with Him and with mankind. What is the origin of language? The origin of language is clearly found in God because He used words to make the world and since that moment language has been a necessity to make the advances in technology that we have. Adam was the first human to talk and communicate which was in the beginning of the world. Philip Lieberman, from the Department of Cognitive and Linguistic Sciences at Brown University, would agree with this statement because he once said, For with speech came a capacity for thought that had never existed before, and that has

transformed the world. In the beginning was the word. If language came from a process of evolution than why can humans communicate using words and thoughts and apes cannot? In the beginning there was only one language to communicate with until the Tower of Babel happened. God confused many mens languages and scattered them around the earth to make a more diverse language populations The evidence is wonderfully consistent with the notion that a small number of languages, separately created at Babel, has diversified into the huge variety of languages we have today (Dr. Carl Wieland, Managing Director, Creation Ministries International [Australia]). Out of these languages came all the other languages and dialects we have today, and God created each of these languages because He wanted to spread His Word all over the globe. Another way to show us that language comes from God is to look at the day man was created. Adam was immediately able to communicate with God, and so was Eve when she was created. One day old and they were able to make complex vocal sounds and communicate perfectly with God. Being that they could communicate they were also able to make choices for themselves because God gives us free will, but they chose to sin against God (Genesis 3:6-7). Adam and Eve spoke to the serpent (Satan) and they chose to disobey God. Their sin has caused us not to have direct communication with God. God gave Adam the task to name all the animals before Eve was even created and Adam had no problem with that task (Genesis 2:26-27). The creation of man and women was on the same day, so that means that within hours Adam had already named the animals and been able to communicate very well with God. After Adam is created, God took one of Adams ribs and created Eve. Adams response to Eves creation was intelligible and well-articulated and this is

hours after he was created out of dust. Knowing how well Adam was able to communicate within hours of his being brought into existence is mind blowing. The final way that we can know that language is from God is to look at the anatomy of what enables us to produce the sounds to form our words. Humans have a voice box that allows us to use language. There is no animal that has existed that has had a voice box or anything close to it. Only man has the gift of speech, a character otherwise only possessed by God (Dr. Werner Gitt, Creationist Information Scientist [Germany]). The fact that no animal has the voice box is the perfect way to prove evolutionists wrong. Also, if we look at the brains language centers we can see all the complexity in the brain that it takes to understand language. There are two special places in the brain that enable us to communicate. One is called Wernickes area, and this spot is where we are able to use language and speech. The other one is name Brocas area, this part of the brain allows us to understand language and speech. Both humans and animals have these areas, but the human not only has a larger brain but it also has a vaster variety of connections. In order to read a word one must use the visual cortex. From the primary cortex, the information is transmitted to the posterior speech area, which includes Wernickes area. After that the information travels through the Brocas area, then to the primary motor cortex to provide the right muscle contractions to produce the sound. This process is way more complex and detailed than that of an animal; even some evolutionists admit that they cant explain this. Looking more closely, we will discover that a radical re-engineering of the whole brain has taken place, and on a scale unprecedented (Terrence William Deacon Ph.D in Biological Anthropology, Harvard University).

I am not the only one in this world that believes that language comes from God. Bert Thompson Ph.D. (microbiology), and Dave Miller Ph.D. (speech communication) both would agree with me that God is the origin of language. The belief that language comes from God is not just something that Christians can believe because there are enough facts out there for evolutionists to be proven wrong. We can see that well educated individuals agree with this statement and enough of them agree to make other people think about what they believe and maybe stir their curiosity to find out more on this subject.
