2009 Summer Strings

Ms. Lin is an accomplished pianist and conductor. While completing her Bachelor’s degree at
Northwestern in 2001, Ms. Lin performed with the Northwestern University Symphony Orchestra as the
concerto competition winner. In subsequent years, Ms. Lin has performed live on the Chicago classical
radio station WFMT as part of the Lin-Kontorovitch piano duo. Ms. Lin completed her Masters in
Orchestral conducting from Northwestern University and has performed as a debut conductor with the
National Symphony Orchestra in 2007. For the past two years, Ms. Lin has served as the Director or
Orchestral Activities at Iowa State University. She is currently completing her Doctorate in Music from the
Northwestern University.
Registration information
Qualification: 7- 12 graders with 3 years of string performing experience
Camp Time: 9:30 am to 3:30 pm Wed. August 5 through Sat. August 7, 2009
Camp Concert: 7:30 pm Friday August 7, 2009
Location: The Fairview Church, 844 NE 78th Street, Seattle, WA 98115
Payment: $50 non-refundable deposit due on July 15; full payment of $215 due on July 30.
Summer String Activities and Benefits
1. Daily orchestra and sectional rehearsals & an evening concert on August 7, 3:00 PM
2. Two Lectures of music appreciation and other related topics.
3. Three lunches and one dinner will be provided during the camp days (08/05-08/07).
4. One free ticket to attend the “Far East Melody” concert performed by Pacific Harmony String
Quartet at the Benaroya Hall on August 8 at 7:30 PM.
5. Community Service hours will be certified upon request.
