Manhattan Catholic Childrens Choir

Do you love to sing? Do you want to praise God through your music? The Manhattan Catholic Childrens Choir is holding auditions for children, ages 8-14 years old.
The Manhattan Catholic Childrens Choir is a new initiative of the Church of Saint Catherine of Siena to foster a love of music and the liturgy in Catholic children across Manhattan. When: The first two weeks of September 2013. 15 minute time slots available, call for an appointment. Where: The Church of Saint Catherine of Siena 411 East 68th Street (between 1st and York Avenues) Requirements: Children in grades three through eight should prepare a piece such as America the Beautiful, Do-Re-Mi (Sound of Music), or Simple Gifts. Children auditioning do not need to have their pieces memorized. Children will also be assessed on their listening and sight-reading skills. Weekly rehearsals on Tuesdays from 3:304:45 p.m. will assist the young chorister to master simple chant pieces using the tools of music theory, music history and melodic hymns that are part of the patrimony of the Church.
Singers will praise God through music at selected liturgies at Saint Catherines, at their home parish, in the annual Lessons and Carols celebration and at a special workshop with chant choirmaster Scott Turkington.
