do well Henry Longfellow Teacher: Mr. Bailey Room: B211 Phone: (713) 942-1400 Email: abailey9@houstonisd.org Conference Times: Monday, Wednesday, Friday 9:45-10:30 and by appointment Course Description: Students will: 1) Develop mathematical knowledge, understanding, and skill; 2) Develop the capacity to define and solve problems with reason, insight, inventiveness, and technical proficiency; 3) Build on and make connections among mathematical ideas and concepts; and 4) See the connections between mathematics and other disciplines. Classroom Rules: 1. Follow directions the first time they are given by the teacher. 2. Sit and stay in your assigned seat unless given permission by the teacher. 3. Keep your hands, feet, and objects to yourself and to your own materials. 4. Do not use vulgar or offensive language. 5. Bring all books and materials necessary for class that day. Materials/ Resources Used: 1 3 ring binder Notebook Paper #2 pencils 1 box of Kleenex Expo Marker Absences: Makeup Work: All assignments missed due to an absence from class will be made up in the designated time addressed in the student handbook. It is the students responsibility to obtain missed assignments and make up any missed work or tests. Make- Up Test: If a student is absent the day before a test, he/she will take the test the day after he/she returns. If a student is present the day before the test, but is absent the day of the test, the test will be made up the day the student returns to class. Homework: Homework will be assigned 2-4 days per week. It is designed to take students 30 minutes or less to complete. Students are welcome to bring their notebooks home to aid in homework, but are responsible to bring them back to school every day.

Teacher Expectations: 1. Design and deliver meaningful lessons with ongoing opportunities to practice/ reinforce learned skills. Follow the curriculum as designated by Houston Independent School District. Diversify the lessons to fit the needs of the student body of GLEC. 2. Consistent, timely, professional communication with students and parents. Provide immediate feedback to students (i.e. grades, questions, concerns). Initiating parent involvement via oral or written communications. Student Expectations: 1. Follow classroom rules at all times. 2. Completion of all assignments. The student is responsible for completing all assignments and turning them in on or before the due date. Late work is unacceptable. 3. Keep track of progress. Utilize grade sheets and student tracker forms for assessments. 4. Give your best effort at all times. Parent/ Guardian Expectations: 1. Parent/Teacher Goal: Please check your childs planner nightly to ensure completion of homework such that your child can be successful in my class. 2. Provide Materials: Please refer to the supply list. Students will be required t have paper and a pencil daily. 3. Parent/Guardian should register and login to HISDs Students Tracking System weekly. Parents will go to www.houstonisd.org and click on the students and Parents link. Parents will login on the page to access student information (current grades, attendance, etc). First-time users will need to create an account prior to accessing student information. Parents can access HISDs website from ANY computer or cellular phone with internet capabilities.
