You are going to spend the next few weeks exploring quadrilaterals (four-sided shapes). There are several components that you will undertake and must demonstrate as you prepare for your exhibition next month: 1. Master the definitions of all quadrilateral types. 2. Distinguish between the definition and properties that follow from it. 3. Conjecture at least three different basic properties for specific quadrilaterals in terms of the angles, sides, and diagonals. 4. Prove two or more such conjectures. 5. Understand and be able to reproduce the quadrilateral hierarchy. 6. Use Geometers Sketchpad to make quadrilaterals for investigation that have some specific properties. 7. Use Geometers Sketchpad to develop one or more advanced conjectures involving midpoints, angle bisectors, or perpendicular bisectors of a specific quadrilateral type. 8. Prove one of your advanced conjectures. At the end of the unit, you will present a portfolio with the above work neatly presented with convincing three-column proofs and Sketchpad graphics as illustrations of your conjectures.
