Greetings AP Biology Students!

As you wrap up the current school year, Id like to begin to get you excited about next year, more specifically, AP Biology. The AP Biology course is designed to be the equivalent of a college introductory Biology course. AP Biology aims to provide students with the conceptual framework, factual knowledge, and analytical skills necessary to deal critically with the rapidly changing science of Biology. AP Biology is a challenging course. In order to prepare you to take the AP Biology exam in May 2007, it is necessary to begin reading and studying material over the summer. Taking into consideration comments by the current AP Biology class, your assignment will involve a review of basic Chemistry and Organic Chemistry. You will be responsible for reading Chapters 1-5 over the summer. I will provide a study guide to help you focus your readings. You will also be required to complete a mini-unit with vocabulary and reading exercises covering the material. You will be tested over this material the week of August 28, 2006. The exact date will be forthcoming. You can pick up the textbooks after May 24, 2006, in room 107. I can be found there most mornings before school as well as off and on throughout the day. You will be responsible for reading Chapters 1-5. Throughout the summer feel free to contact with any questions or concerns. You can email me at slytle@mndhs.org or slytle@mndhs.gaggle.net. I am very excited about this coming year and I am confident you will find it a truly rewarding and challenging course.
