In the short story Boar Out There, Jennys understanding of the boar changes as the plot develops.

First in the exposition, Jenny wonders about the boar living beyond the splintery rail fence. Next in the rising action, Jenny decides to find the boar. When she comes face to face with him, Jenny becomes deathly afraid as she stands stiff with wet eyes fearing the boar. Subsequently in the climax, Jenny is shocked when instead of being afraid of her, the boar runs away at the sound of a blue jay. Ultimately in the falling action and resolution, Jenny knows that the boar is not a scary predator of humans, but actually a scared and misunderstood creature.
