Sperm Whale

Male sperm whales reach lengths of about 66 feet (20 meters). They have a large spermaceti organ in their distinctively-shaped heads. It is thought that this organ allows them to adjust their buoyancy, and enables them to dive as deep as 9800 feet, or nearly two miles (3000 meters)! This organ also can create and absorb sound. It is thought to help the whale find prey.
