FCE: WRITING A REVIEW (120-180 words)

Main purpose: describe and express a personal opinion about sth you have experienced in a way that catches the reader's attention and interest. (E.g. a movie, a holiday, a product, an event, a book, a TV programmes, a restaurant, a concert, etc.) o o o o You will need language of description and explanation - adjectives, adjectives, adjectives and some adverbs. You will also need to give your opinion (positive or negative) and make a recommendation. Make sure you use clear, unified paragraphs. Respect the word limit.

You will be asked to write this opinion following a structure that is explained below:

First paragraph: say what you are reviewing and try to catch the readers attention. Second: This is sort of a general description of the most important things you want the other person to know. Third paragraph: This is basically your personal opinion about the thing you are speaking about. A review is not a list of facts but an opinion/ perspective/ point of view. Final paragraph: Summarize your review with a strong recommendation.

1-THE LINKING WORDS AND EXCLAMATIONS MARKS ARE useful to write a review. Avoid phrasal verbs or idioms, but try not to be so formal in your register, it is better to sound neutral. Imagine you cant use these expressions/ words, what would you do? YOU CAN USE the following ones:

IN MY OPINION: for me / as form me / speaking for myself / it seems to me that / according to my view-experience / I think / I consider this as/ SO: therefore / in consequence / then / hence / consequently / so as a consequence / thus FOR THAT: because of / due to / for this reason / since ALSO: likewise / as well / too / (tambien) ALSO: in addition / besides / moreover / additionally (ademas)
