In India, engineers with an engineering degree (BE/BTech/ME/MTech) are allowed t o practice.

There is no need for any further license or reg with any institution or body.Some Municipalities /City Corporations give reg to BE/BTech holders as Licensed Engineer;but it's limited to local town. However Engineers registered as Chartered Engineer(India)with Institution of Eng ineers(India) can practice in any state or city. They must be Corporate Members of IE (India)to register.They are preferred as Consulting Engineers.IE(India) al so has 'Professional Engineer(India)' and 'Professional Engineer(International)' reg to degreed engineers having at least seven years of engineering experience. They too must be Corporate Members of IE(India) to apply for those reg. General ly; BE/BTech/ME/MTech degree and five years engineering experience required to b ecome to apply for Corporate Membership (AMIE) of IE(India).World-Over;both CEng & PEng/PE reg Engineers are having both high Social & Professinal respect & rec ognition.Also jobs & career advancement is easy then.
