01/08/2013 KRCs Finance advisor attended PHI meeting at KRCEE office. The issue
discussed during the meeting includes the upgrading of Kaw Lah Junior College
after its two year program to health program.
02/08/2013 Vice Chairperson of KRC attended LAC meeting at LAC office for the preparation
05/08/2013 KRCs Social and Health Coordinators attended meeting at Mae La camp. In the
meeting, CMTs advisory board and staff workers are selected.
09/08/2013 KRCs Health Coordinator and PSO attended PWGs meeting at UNHCR office.
The issues discussed during the meeting are such as over training for the people in
the camp, drop outs or students who stop going to school, PAB issue, and sharing of
information from UNHCR along the border.
10/08/2013 Vice Chairperson of KRC, General Secretary and Joint Secretary of KRC and PSO
attended meeting related to judicial system at Maesariang. KRC also has informed
the use of new judicial system laid down by KRC and IRC/LAC in the camp. With
this KRC will also give training to the camp authority and organization concerned at
Mae La Camp and then will start to implement for the first 6 month as a pilot
project.
- 22/08/2013 KRCs Vice Chairperson, General Secretary, Joint Secretary and PSO attended
TBCs meeting concerning the new policy for food distribution at Maesariang.
TBC explained about its new policy which categorizes four groups of people who
will receive rations according to the prescription of new policy. Before this new
policy comes to affect, TBC will try to explain to all the people of this new policy.
The new policy will come into force in November 2013.
22-23/08/2013 It was proposed that Education body should try to advocate the recognition of
education system, teacher skills and quality and student secured certificate when
repatriation happen. It was proposed during the meeting held to discuss about
education matter in Maesariang. It was also proposed that the government of
Burma should revise its curriculum and education policy in order to integrate
education system which will also benefit the exile refugee.
26/08/2013 KRCs Joint Secretary, Social Coordinator and Office Administrator interviewed
new candidate who applied for the new post, that is, cashier.
27/08/2013 KRC Committee and TBC revised the Code of Conducts election guideline and
guideline for case-finding at KRC office.
28/082013 KRCs Joint Secretary attended meeting at Chiang Mai regarding the participation
of women in peace building and also discussed about the refugee situation. During
the meeting, it is agreed that, repatriation should be voluntarily and not by force. In
addition to that, seeking support from NGOs will continue even after the
repatriation.
30/08/2013 KRCs education coordinator attended monthly school principal meeting at OCEE
office, Maela camp. During the meeting, reports from representing organizations
were presented and also discussed about how to strengthen Human Resource
Management. ZOA has implemented a Teacher Resource Center at Maela and HI to
give Mine Risk Education to the teachers.
NGO Supporters
TBC The Border Consortium. Supports with food and shelter material. TBBC also supports with
warm clothing for refugees. TBBC coordinates with the Camp ManagementProgram to help with
administration and management capacity in all seven camps.TBBCprovides KRC with
administrative and organizational support and helps with staff remuneration.
ADRA Adventist Develop and Relief Agency. Starting January 2011, ADRA assumed
responsibility for vocational training formerly implemented by ZOA in all seven camps.
WEAVE Promotes women and childrens education and self-reliance, focusing on household
issues to help women achieve more power, rights, and opportunities in refugee communities.
PU-AMI Premiere Urgence - Aide Medical International. Supports medical and health facilities.
ARC American Refugee Committee. Supports medical and health facilities.
M.I. Malteser International, formerly MHD Supports medical and health facilities.
ZOA Refugee Care Supports school supplies, construction, teacher subsidy, textbooks, teacher training,
management capacity building in 7 refugee camps and livelihood project.
