Dear Hiring Manager: I am a recent graduate of the Brigham Young University Hawaii Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages program. I am interested in applying for the ESL Adjunct position. I believe that my leadership qualities and English abilities make me the best candidate for this position. Prior to attending university I worked for four years as an English teacher for elementary through high school students. This enabled me to have a more useful focus while studying. Because of this I was able to apply the newly learned information and methods while working as an online tutor. For example, my previous work experience taught me that high school students need to be able to relate to their instructor to help them pay better attention. Through my studies I learned that there should be a strict line between teacher and students. This allowed me to know how to find a good balance between being relatable and drawing a strict line between myself and the students, which enabled the students to absorb the material more quickly.
