DATE: 13TH OF OCTOBER, 2013 PREACHER: ROGER SIMPSON TOPIC: THE GREAT INVITATION TEXT: MATTHEW11:25-30 WHO IS THE

INVITATION OPEN TO? The invitation is not to everyone, it is to those who are burnt out and tired of religion. It is to people who are worn out with the burdens of life. It could include people with illnesses, the burden and pressures of work or lack thereof, the break down of a relationship whether family or otherwise, the stress of moving homes, struggling with debt, bereavement. There are many burdens that people carry or there are those burnt out on religion, people like this were the Jews who were listening to Jesus while also trying to follow all the rules. The invitation is to anyone tired and burnt out. WHAT HAPPENS IF I RECEIVE THIS INVITATION? Jesus said to come to him and you will recover your life. God has a purpose for you and if you go to him he will show you that purpose and help you achieve it. He also said he will show you how to take a real rest, not escape your troubles, but to have that complete rest whereby your troubles are gone. Jesus can offer us rest because of who he is. He is the son of God, the prince of pece the homecoming king, the saviour and so much more. Jesus can also give rest because he died for us all. All our debts were paid when Jesus died on the cross. THREE THINGS TO DO TO RECEIVE THE INVITATION? Go to Jesus Christ, you have to decide that you are going to follow him. Then you have to walk with him or take his yoke upon yourself. If you walk and work with him then you will learn the unforced rythms of grace.
