312.34 - Intermittent Explosive Disorder

Several discrete episodes of failure to resist aggressive

impulses that result in serious assaultive acts or destruction of property (Criterion A). The degree of aggressiveness expressed during the episodes is grossly out of proportion to any precipitating psychosocial stressors (Criterion B). The aggressive episodes are not better accounted for by another mental disorder (e.g., Antisocial Personality Disorder, Borderline Personality Disorder, a Psychotic Disorder, a Manic Episode, Conduct Disorder, or AttentionDeficit/Hyperactivity Disorder) and are not due to the direct physiological effects of substance (e.g., a drug of abuse, a medication) or a general medical condition (e.g., head trauma, Alzheimers disease) (Criterion C).

When Abby does not get her way she often immediately turns to rage, aggression, and/or threats

Below is the link to a video that shows Abby over reacting because one of the mothers did not put chair stoppers on the chair prop like she was asked. Although the mother states she would have them the next day for the competition Abby throws the chair angrily and kicks the student out of the room.

Abby has also been know to scream and threaten others, often unprovoked. She has thrown water on a rival dance teacher for making rude and snide comments towards her backstage, thrown the dancers mothers and the dancers out of rooms and her studio for challenging her or disagreeing with her.

Abby is often in a stressful environment and, like most people, she often gets frustrated and angry. Much of the time, though, Abbys anger reaction is significantly more intense than would be expected for that situation.

Below is the link to a video that shows Abby fighting with one of the mothers (Christi). Abby becomes extremely angry and screams at Christi over her grammar saying Christi and I, you idiot! Christi and I!.
