Career day is giving you an opportunity to speak with the guest speakers we have coming and getting to know more about different careers and the different fields in that career. The career we are going to be giving out more information about is Business. Business has many fields within. Here are some fields that are within the business career. Accounting

Entrepreneurship
Finance Business Management Marketing Supply Chain Management

Career Day will be held at LoneStar College Cy-Fair in the CASA Building in room 410 on 10/31/2013. It will start at 1:00p.m. and ends at 4:00p.m.

ACCOUNTING
Accountants analyze financial information and consult with upper management about important business decisions. Some accountants also keep the books, recording every financial transactions. Some of the stuff accounting majors get to learn is how to gather, record, analyze, interpret, and communicate information about an individuals or organizations financial performance and risks. Accounting majors have to be ready to use accounting systems, learn to prepare tax fillings, study tax law, evaluate a companys efficiency and profitability, create and analyze balance sheets, and learn to use GAAP (generally accepted accounting principles).

ENTREPRENEURSHIP
The degree of entrepreneurship focuses on many aspects of the business department. The field of entrepreneurship is one that relies heavily on the ability to change and exploit new markets and opportunities. Students must be ready to constant change and be adaptable. Students that seek a degree in entrepreneurship are usually business-oriented and seek to develop their own business, rather than entering and existing business.

FINANCE
Students who graduate with a finance major are prepared to enter positions in corporations, financial institutions, brokerage firms, investment banks, and governments. Learning goals: Identify the functions of financial markets and institutions and examine their impact on the level of interest rates and interest rate differentials.

Investigate advanced time value of money concepts and extend these concepts to mortgage mathematics, commercial mathematics, and capital budgeting.
Explore the international integration of financial markets and analyze implications for financial managers. Examine the nature of the commercial banking business. Ascertain the measures of bank return and risk performance and how they are applied to bank valuation decisions and management performance assessment. BUSINESS MANAGEMENT
Business management is designed to give students theoretical and practical knowledge about business operations, processes and systems. You have to take classes in the core areas of business, such as marketing, operations, accounting and finance, economics, strategy and organizational behavior.

MARKETING
Marketing major is excellent for individuals who enjoy working in teams and are creative in developing new ways to accomplish their companys goals. You have to understand and be familiar with traditional areas of marketing channels, sales management, advertising, research, and consumer and dealer motivation.

SUPPLY CHAIN MANAGEMENT

Supply chain management encompasses the planning and management of all activities in sourcing and procurement, conversion, and all logistics management activities. Supply chain management is an integrating function with primary responsibility for linking major business functions and business processes within and across companies into a cohesive and highperforming business model.
