Interpretation:
What do you think the artist was trying to say in the artwork?
__I believe that in taking this photo, Ansel was trying to convey to his audience that certain beauties
also come with danger. A good example of this is mountains (which he chose) because they are
absolutely gorgeous to look at, but they can hold peril for those who want to explore
them.___________________________________________________________
_____________________________________________________________
Why do you think he or she chose this subject?
__He chose this subject because, as mentioned before, mountains are the perfect example of
dangerous beauty. He wanted to be able to catch to aspects on one object in the same
photograph.___________________________________________________________
_____________________________________________________________

What feeling does this artwork give you and why?

__It gives me a sense of reverence for how massive and majestic the mountains are, but the dark
clouds hanging around them also give you a sense of warning. So they are admired, but
hesitantly.___________________________________________________________

What part of the artwork is your favorite and why?
___My favorite part of this artwork in particular is the clouds and the way the dark ones add to the
idea that Ansel was trying to capture. The mountains in themselves are beautiful, and most people
would not think of the danger and risks they hold right away just by looking at them. But the dark
clouds surrounding it change the ambiance of the photo a little bit and add the possibility of danger to
the photo.__________________________________________________________
