COMPANY OVERVIEW:-
Maruti Suzuki India Ltd Formerly known as Maruti Udyog Limited. The Group's principal
activity is to manufacture, purchase and sale of Motor Vehicles and Spare parts. The Group is a
subsidiary of Suzuki Motor Corporation. The other activities of the Group comprises of
facilitation of Pre-Owned Car Sales, Fleet Management and Car Financing. The Group also
provides services like framing of customized car policies, economical leasing of cars,
maintenance management, registration and insurance management, emergency assistance and
accident management. The product range includes ten basic models with more than 50
variants. The Group has operations in over 1220 cities with more than 2628 outlets and also
exports cars to other countries.

Maruti Suzuki India is India's leading maker of automobiles. Through a partnership with Suzuki,
the company makes models such as the Alto, Gypsy, and Swift. One of its newest models, the
Swift Dzire, is a compact, entry-level sedan that offers a variety of modern features. In addition
to domestic sales, Maruti Suzuki also exports select models to many European markets. The
company has two manufacturing facilities. Its Gurgaon facility near New Delhi actually consists
of three integrated plants and has an annual capacity of about 350,000 cars. Its Manesar facility
was built in 2007 and will eventually have an annual capacity of 300,000. Maruti Suzuki enjoys
just over a 50% share of its domestic market.

Maruti Suzuki India is engaged in manufacture and distribution of motor vehicles and spare
parts. The company's products include luxury cars, sports utility vehicles, and multi purpose
vehicles. Its brands include Maruti 800, Omni, Zen, Alto, WagonR, Gypsy, SX4, Versa, Swift,
and Grand Vitara XL7. The company also buys and sells pre-owned cars. It is a subsidiary of
Suzuki Motor Corporation. The company primarily operates in India where it is headquartered in
New Delhi and employs about 7,090 people.

The company recorded revenues of INR191, 213.9 million (approximately $4,749.8 million) in
the fiscal year ended March 2008, an increase of 23.4% over 2007. Its net profit was INR17,
898.9 million (approximately $444.6 million) in fiscal 2008, an increase of 12.7% over 2007.

MARUTI SUZUKI INDIA LIMITED (MSIL), along with its parent company, SUZUKI MOTOR
CORPORATION (SMC) has recently entered into a joint venture with Magneti Marelli, a
subsidiary of the Fiat group, to produce electronic control units for diesel engines. The new
manufacturing facility would not only cater to MSIL's diesel cars but also to other car
manufacturers. At an initial investment of Rs750 MM, the new facility would be located in MSIL's
existing suppliers' park at Manesar. The production of these units would begin at the end of
2008 with a maximum capacity of 500,000 units. As per the joint venture, Magneti Marelli would
hold 51% stake in the share capital, whereas SMC and MSIL will hold 30% and 19%,
respectively.

MSIL also recently entered into a 49:51 joint venture with Japan’s Futaba Co for manufacturing
and sale of exhaust systems for its cars. Estimated project cost would be Rs.1.82 bn and the
new facility would be located in MSIL’s existing suppliers' park at Manesar. Futaba is a key
component manufacturer and supplier for SMC in the area of exhaust system component for
automobiles including tubular and fabricated exhaust main folds, catalytic converters, exhaust
pipes and exhaust mufflers.

Maruti Udyog, India's largest car manufacturer, has appealed to three of its engine component
suppliers to step up production, as the company is hit by a prolonged strike at DCM
Engineering, its main supplier of engine components.

Maruti to make body parts in JV with Japan's Bellsonica

Maruti Udyog Ltd (MUL) has entered into a joint venture with Japan's Bellsonica Corporation to
manufacture car body components, including high tensile steel parts.
The Japanese company will hold 70 per cent in the JV, Bellsonica Auto Component India
(BACI), while MUL - in which Suzuki Motor Corporation owns 54.2 per cent - will hold the rest.
The joint venture company will have a paid-up capital Rs12 crore and will manufacture body
metal components for Maruti's vehicles, the release said. The plant will be located alongside
MUL's new car plant in Manesar, Haryana.
The company would be engaged in manufacturing two- and four-wheeler sheet metal, chassis,
structural, and rotating components, and would provide maintenance and after-sales services to
installed equipment.

CONCLUSION:-

player companies as a community.
