0 Writing Traits Checklist


Writing Process: efficient planning, drafting, 1 revising, and editing; Ideas & Content: clear and consistent focus on the topic that establishes and maintains a main idea, 2 theme, or unifying point in the response; Organization: effective organization for the writing purpose, including internal transitions that help the reader understand how paragraphs work together, 3 reference one another, and build to a larger point;

I could really tell that the author *1.Planned: 3 steps of prewriting (R.A.F.T, C.A.R. & S.I.D., Plan) AND *2.Drafted/Revised/Edited: One Sentence at a time.

*3.Chose an interesting point-of-view about topic, *4.Presented a clear main idea, *5.Gave vivid and believable supporting details, *6.Made the reader really want to read all the way to the end. *7.Included a beginning, middle and ending, *8.Used transitions that show how ideas connect with each other, *9.Chose a structure that matches the theme and writing purpose, *10.Sequenced their ideas in an order that makes sense for the writing purpose.

Voice: sufficient, specific, and relevant development *11.Decided who the audience would be and spoke to the same audience of support, i.e., elaboration that includes concrete until the essay's end, *12.Wrote as if the author were speaking to the details and pertinent information that helps the reader reader, *13.Let the readers see the author's own strong feelings about the 4 construct mental images; topic, *14.Made the reader really think about what the author had to say. Word Choice: clear, precise word choice that provides a natural, reasonable, and consistent tone to *15.Chose words that made the author's meaning clear, *16.Chose the response, rather than sudden bursts of elevated, nouns, verbs, and modifiers that are interesting and exciting, *17.Used contrived use of vocabulary, or discordant use of language that sounds natural, *18.Chose words and phrases that catch 5 creative writing strategies; the reader's attention. Sentence Fluency: various sentence structures and styles that add compositional facility and rhythm to the response, allow emphasis of critical points, and 6 create interest for the reader; Conventions: overall control of the basic conventions 7 of standard English (SWAE); Presentation: purposeful use of elements that promote the intended narrative, persuasive, or 8 expository purpose for writing.
