Athletic Injuries Symposium


On Monday, October 28th our class will be having a symposium on athletic injuries. During this class each student will have an opportunity to walk around the classroom to other groups displays. You must take notes on all of your classmates displays as this material may appear on unit tests or your final exam. Pre- Task 1. Create a group of 3 2. Select a common athletic injury from the list provided. If you have an injury you want to study that is not on the list, ASK FIRST. 3. Once you have selected your injury, get it approved by Mr. Kaiser. (1 group per injury topic) Task 4. Create a display board with the following information; a. Title b. Description of your injury (symptoms or feelings associated with injury, chronic or acute, what sports or activities does this injury most frequently occur in, etc.) c. Mechanism of Injury (how it happens? Use proper anatomical terms eg. ACL injury deceleration with medial rotation or forced hyper flexion of the knee) d. Diagnosis/Symptoms e. Treatments (rehab provide example exercises etc.) f. Prevention (prehab provide example exercises etc.) g. Etc. (interesting facts, famous athletes) h. Pictures 5. Create a 1 page or less point form summary of your findings to hand out to your classmates and Mr. Kaiser during the conference. Post Task 6. On its own piece of paper create 3 multiple choice questions to hand in to Mr. Kaiser. 7. Be prepared to discuss and explain for findings to your classmates on Monday, October 28th in a symposium type setting.
