Problems to Consider In order to operate the ballast at 140Vac input : 1) When input voltage comes down to 140Vac, current should increase by 40%, and this makes the specifications of related components increase by 40%. 2) Increase of current get the efficiency of the ballast down by 5%. 3) Heats of components also increase. 4) It takes about 6 months to develop(Development> Certification-- >Production)

Technical Side

ALCF-250 is design to operate at 230Vac.

Cost Side

1) The increase of the specifications of components make the cost increase by 10~20% 2) The product size increases

Others

< In case of 140Vac coming from Line Earth> 1) Power Line Communication can not be guaranteed . 2) It requires extra Line Earth coupling circuit. 3) In case both Line Neutral and Line-Earth exist in the same system, power line communication can not be guaranteed.
