Adriano Zumbo is a well-known patissier who is also known to be the "master of macaroons", "the sweet assassin", and "the

Dark Lord of the Pastry Kitchen. This food- loving fanatic was born on the 6th of November in 1981 to Italian parents from Calabria and was raised in Coonamble, 164 Kilometres northwest of Dubbo. In Coonamble his parents owned the local IGA supermarket where he loved to get all the packet mixes and developed a sweet tooth. Back in Italy where he had spent many of his early years he was inspired by the coffee to make many pastries that he has sold in Sydney. Year 10 was the last year of his schooling. After he had finished he travelled to Sydney for a pastry chef apprenticeship in 1997. Zumbo had started off his career by supplying homemade tarts, muffins, brownies and banana bread to local cafes in Sydney. In 2007 Adriano Zumbo had opened his very first patisserie in Balmain and his pastries were adored by many. Since then Zumbo has appeared on Master Chef Australia where he showed Australia how complex his desserts can be. By Lara Mendez
