HOW TO PACK A PACK

Load to about 14 kg Tighten compression straps, loosen other straps Pick up pack by carry handle, not by shoulder straps Swing pack up onto back, standing slightly hunched forward, legs apart, knees bent Do up and tighten the hip belt so it sits over hip bone (covers top 5 cm of hip bones) Tighten the shoulder straps until they are snug over shoulders (if you lift on hip should be able to fit 2 fingers) Tighten the stabilizer straps between the top of the pack and shoulder straps (will pull weight of top of pack closer to neck tighten up hill, slacken down hill) Padded section of back of pack should touch of the back, a small gap just above hips If uncomfortable may have to adjust back length of harness or curvature of staves Back size measured from point on neck to start of hips (men C7 to S2, women C7 to L5) Do up sternum strap (across chest) Tighten the bottom stabilizer straps between hip belt and bottom of pack
