This paper aims to itemize basic issues and points explained in several Translation Studies
introduction books and Reader books, thereby attempting to obtain an overall grasp of the
whole system of Translation Studies as of today. Nine introduction books and three readers
have been analyzed in this paper. Some prospects for the future of Japans translation studies
are stated at the end of this paper as well.
