Context:

1. the parts of a piece of writing, speech, etc, that precede and follow a word or passage and contribute to its full meaning: it is unfair to quote out of context 2. the conditions and circumstances that are relevant to an event, fact, etc

The context:
The situation in which your message is delivered is the context. This may include the surrounding environment or broader culture (i.e. corporate culture, international cultures, etc.).

Context in detail:
Context is the situation or circumstance in which communication occurs. context may be any specific setting which stimulates and urges a person on action. The stimulus may be internal or external. Internal stimulus includes attitudes,opinions, and emotions, past experience, likes and dislikes, education, and job status-all influence the way we communicate. The message is also affected by our ability to analyze our receiver's culture, needs, ideas, experience etc. External stimulus may be a telephone call, a memo, a letter, a message that activates the sender to think about sending a message.
