ACTION. No action is required prior to firing. On firing the two detents set back thus clearing the centrifugal bolts, these two bolts are retained in the safe position by the set back ring. When acceleration ceases the centrifugal bolts move outward forcing the set back ring upward. The needle plug is now free to move downward on impact. When the centrifugal bolts move into the armed position the detents rise up under the influence of their springs and prevent the bolts from moving back into the safe position. On impact the firing needle is driven into the detonator which commences the detonation process in the shell.
