Data is based on immersion exposure. 1 x 5 x 1/8 mild steel panels were coated with a specific coating at the nominal mil thickness recommended for immersion service. The panels were immersed in one-half of their length in the liquid. Test panels were inspected and results recorded as follows: 24 hours; 1 week; 2 weeks; 1 month; 2 months; 4 months; 6 months; 8 months; 10 months; and 1 year. Although a failure may be indicated, and if not too rapid, a judgement may be made if the coating is useful in protection against fumes, splash and spills.
