Students can use spreadsheet software in several different ways in

the classroom. Spreadsheets are helpful among all content areas and
can be helpful to inform, reinforce, integrate, and utilize information
for students. For example, Students can use spreadsheets to mark the
growth of bean plants in Physical Science; they can match states and
captials in Social Studies; match dates with events in History; and
students can also match vocabulary words with definitions in English.
All of these examples use spreadsheets to reinforce, utilize, and
integreate information. It is a common misconception that
spreadsheets should only be used for calculations in math and
sciences. Students can use spreadsheets as a tool for learning in all of
the different content areas. Teachers can provide a spread sheet with
some information completed and several blank areas for studnents to
fill in the missing data. This way students are finding and locating the
missing information and are leaning while completing the process.
Using spreadsheets as worksheets would be a helpful tool for students
and teachers. If a student leaves a cell blank, then the teacher knows
what concepts and questions the students may be struggling with. The
teacher will then know what area he/she needs to review for student
mastery. Similarly, students may think they know all of the answers,
