Remember where you have been and where you are going. Life is not a race, but a journey to be savored each step of the way. ~Nikita Koloff
My Philosophy
A good preschool curriculum focuses on all areas of development (sensory, social/play, communication, academic, and gross/fine motor skills) All children need ACCESS to their curriculum All children need to EXPLORE their curriculum in a hands on way All children need a way to COMMUNICATE with others All children need to play and SOCIALIZE with others I believe in setting limits and being CONSISTENT All children respond to structure, schedules, repetition, and ROUTINE I believe the before a child can learn anything else, they need to learn HOW TO LEARN (to sit, attend, participate) I believe PARENTS are a critical part of the learning experience. Skills at school need to be reinforced at home.

Documentation
Weekly reports are a two ply copy. I keep the yellow copy you get the originals on Friday unless a short weekthen Mondays Your childs goals are attached with A, B, C, D This form is in the process of being updated amongst a committee of PPCD teachers/supervisors. However, it was not approved to go on line so it will still be a paper copy This system of prompts/ plus or minus is how I collect data for the 9 weeks
Behavior Management
Accommodations: Using things that help them access the curriculum to be successful: visual schedules/cues, headphones, different chairs, reinforcers, deep pressure, sensory brushes, vary lighting, FIRST/THEN Keeping it Positive! Positive! Positive! With LOTS of CHOICE and CONSISTENCY!!! Refocus/peace area: Get their mind on something else (drink of water, walk around, different activity). Use conscious discipline strategies. Think Time: sitting out for length of age (3 yr old=3 min) See copy of toolkit for consistent response to negative behavior
Details
Snacks: Please give snacks one day at a time. It really helps them set up things for themselves and discourages bugs. Also nice if healthy Parent teacher conferences will be held in October. Annual ARDs if your child is going to Kinder next year I will do two sets of goals. If not then I will do annual goals (oct 3 2013-oct 3 2014) Inclusion in Pre-k is only an option to students who are developmentally ready and he/she is 4 on or before September 1st. Parents please look at the parent notebook regarding illness. If your child is sick please dont send them.
