    Generic Name: Piperacillin Tazobactan Brand Name: Zosyn Classification: Anti-infective Route: IVTT Dosage: 4.5 mg now, then 2.25mg Frequency: Every 8hrs

    Indications
    Treatment of serious infections due to susceptible organism, including: infections, respiratory tract infection.

    Mechanism of Action
    Piperacillin -binds to bacterial cell wall membrane, causing cell death. Tazobactan -Inhibits betalactamase, an enzyme that can destroy penicillin. Therapeutic effect: Death of susceptible bacteria.

    Contraindication
    Hypersensitivity to penicillins or tazobactan. Use cautiously in: renal impairment.

    Adverse reaction
    CNS: Confusion, lethargy, seizure. CV: congestive heart failure, arrhythmias.

    Nursing Responsibility
    Do the rights of the patient.. - Right patient. - Right medication. - Right site. - Right dosage. - Right route. - Right time. - Right to refuse. Checked the patency of the IV. Inject slowly. Observed for the sign and symptoms of anaphylaxis. Provided clean environment.
