WELCOME TO OUR SCHOOL ... A MEssaGE FROM THE PRINCIpaL

Dedicated teachers and involved parents hold high expectations for achievement by all students at East Goshen. Educational objectives for each child are established and continuously monitored. Childrens artwork fills the lobby and hallways, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Parent volunteers help in the classrooms, library and ropes course. Students have many opportunities to participate in community service projects and activities that enrich their school experience including chorus, band, orchestra, and safety patrol. Fourth and fifth grade students serve as conflict managers to help first, second and third grade children resolve conflicts during recess time. Fifth graders begin our day by making morning announcements. East Goshen Elementary has a unique outdoor ropes course and climbing wall which are incorporated into a Project Adventure Program that includes problem solving, team building, and trust activities for all third, fourth and fifth graders. A wheelchair-accessible playground, funded through a highly successful effort by the Home and School Association, provides social and learning opportunities for all children. Many programs such as Book Basket, Writing Basket and Publishing Center provide students with opportunities to enhance their reading and writing skills. The award-winning LifeSkills Training (LST) Program is incorporated into the curriculum for grades 3 through 5. LST promotes healthy alternatives to risky behavior and provides students with training in drug resistance, personal self-management, and general social skills. At East Goshen, the education of our children is truly a collaborative effort shared by educators, parents and the community.

Each curricular area is based on the Pennsylvania Academic Standards as well as national and/or local standards and is evaluated and revised as needed. Classrooms are electronically linked to make maximum use of current technology. An orchestra program is available to students in grades three through five while band and choral programs begin in grade four.
