CABLE EARTH BONDING KIT Cable earthing kits connect coaxial cable sheaths and waveguide to the tower frame. No other earthing other than direct to the tower structure is required. The inner conductor of coaxial cables will still carry lightning energy into the equipment shelter. For this reason a cable entry bulkhead fitted with coaxial surge protectors is recommended. Novaris cable earthing kits consist of all components necessary for installation and sealing of the completed kit. Each kit comprises:

Introduction When lightning strikes a communications tower current flows to ground via the tower leg steel work and via any feeder cables that exist on the tower. It is impossible to sufficiently insulate these coaxial feeders or waveguides from the tower to prevent a flashover. As a result, cable earthing kits are utilised to ensure that cables are electrically bonded to towers and so form part of the lightning return path. Application Cable earthing kits are installed at the tower top, at the bottom of the tower on the vertical section immediately before the cable turns onto the horizontal cable runway and at the cable entry point. This optimises the lightning current flow direct to ground and not into the equipment building.

Kits are available for common braided cables and solid sheath cables up to 1 5/8. Note: For RG213 braided sheath cable specify EKIT1. Each kit contains a braided packing strip that may be inserted under the clamp to prevent damage to the braided sheath cable. Options
