Hallott szvegrts az ITK-Orig nyelvvizsgn
A nyelvvizsgn a vizsgz egy kb. 1,5-2 perc hosszsg, tlagos beszdtempj szveget hallgat meg. A szvegek gyakran a B2 kzpfok nyelvvizsga szintjnek megfelelen szerkesztettek, gyakran klnbz sebessg s akcentus angol kznyelvi stlus szveget hallgat meg a vizsgz.
A szveget hrom alkalommal hallgat meg, az els minden esetben a rhangoldst, a szveg megismerst s tartalom globlis ttekintst clozza meg. A msodik majd a harmadik hallgatst kveten van lehetsg, hogy a szveg alapjn magyarul feltett krdsekre a vizsgz magyar nyelven adjon vlaszt. A feladat pontozsa ptkez jelleg, azaz fontos vizsgataktika, hogy minden helyes vagy helyesnek vlt vlaszt le kell rni, hiszen a j vlaszok pontokat rnek, a helytelen vlaszokra pedig nem jr pont levons. A feladat pontrtke 20, amelyre kb. 20 perc ll a rendelkezsre.
A hallott szveg rtsi kpessg fejlesztse egy hosszabb, rszleteiben is odafigyelst ignyl folyamat, amely idelis esetben a nyelvtanuls legelejtl mindennaposan jelen van a tanulsi-tantsi folyamatban. A lnyeg azonban egyszer: a hallott szvegrtsi kszsget csakis l angol nyelv hallgatsval lehet megszerezni, nem szabad azt vrni, hogy a nyelvtan tanulsa s papron, feladatok kitltse vagy a fordts gyakorlsa sokat fejleszt a hangzszveg rtsi kszsgen. Sok embernek ez a feladat jelenti a legnagyobb gondot a nyelvvizsgn s ha te is kzjk tartozol, ajnlom, hogy hallgasd meg ezeket a szvegeket, prblj ezekkel is gyakorolni.
A szvegeket letltheted nyomtathat .pdf formtumban, a hanganyagot pedig .mp3 formtumban is. Fontos, hogy a szveg tiratt s a megoldst csak az utn nzd meg (de akkor viszont igen s hallgasd is meg sokszor!), hogy a krdsekre vlaszoltl.

In Monroe, California, two students were sentenced to walk for twelve miles. They had been found guilty of siphoning three gallons of petrol from a parked car, and the judge considered that four miles to the gallon was a suitable punishment.
Similarly, three football hooligans in the town of Burntisland in Fife were ordered by the magistrate to report to the local police five minutes before kick-off time and five minutes after the final whistle as a punishment for a breach of the peace during a Dunfermline-Raith Rovers match.

The gleeful youths had been expecting a much worse punishment and calculated that they could report at five minutes to three, be at the game (provided it was being played at home) five minutes after kick-off, and rush back in time to report, as ordered, five minutes after the final whistle.
They realized that if it was a cup tie, and the game went into extra time they would have to leave before the final result was known. However, they took no account of the cunning Scots police sergeant who was on duty throughout their sentence.
They reported, as arranged, five minutes before kick-off the following Saturday. The sergeant told them to sit down and wait for a couple of minutes as he was 'a little busy, at the moment.' A few minutes later, they again asked the sergeant to clock them in and got the same reply. This went on for more than an hour.
Eventually, at half past four, ten minutes before the final whistle was due to be blown, the sergeant found time to log the boys' arrival at the station. He took his time doing so and they did not leave until twenty to five. Just as they were leaving, he called to them not to forget to report back in five minutes. This went on every Saturday throughout the football season.

At last Allie and Nick Hinton don't have to worry any more when the phone rings unexpectedly and someone urgently needs a midwife or some sort of medical help. I thought there was a family emergency when I heard the phone ring at 5.20am, but it was a man asking for the nearby Churchill Hospital. He said he'd got our number from a leaflet put out by the hospital. I didn't think much more about it, but the next day we had lots of similar calls. I contacted the hospital and found out that the leaflets had been printed with our number on by mistake. The person I spoke to said they'd have some new ones done but, weeks later, we were still getting the calls. One night an elderly lady phoned in tears asking for a bereavement counsellor*. I couldn't tell her she'd dialled the wrong number so I had to sit down and listen to her. Another time, someone rang up for a midwife. Nick had to phone around different hospitals to get the woman some help. We started putting on the answermachine, but people still left messages for the hospital. We felt

that we couldn't ignore them, so we'd phone the person back or call the hospital with the message. Our bill rocketed. I went to the hospital again to complain and nearly hit the roof. There was a stack of leaflets with our number still on in reception and a huge map on the wall with our number displayed! We'd already changed our number; and made it ex-directory before the calls for the hospital started coming through. Now, it was clearly, on view for the whole of Oxford to see. I demanded that something be done and asked for compensation for the calls we'd made. But we were only given the suggestion that we change our number, and told that the hospital would pay for Nick's business stationery to be printed, with our new number. Our biggest concern has been that Nick is a self- employed decorator and relies heavily on the phone to get work. If people hear an engaged signal, it's likely that they'll try someone else. Nick and I considered taking legal action but finally resigned ourselves to changing our phone number. It cost 25, but it was worth it. Now when the phone rings, at least we know it's for us.

Tony Thompson is a keen do-it-yourself fan. One day, after watching plumbers install a new bathroom in his house. Tony decided to fit a shower curtain.
Unfortunately, his electric drill slipped out of his hands and cracked the new porcelain sink. As he reached out to stop it falling he fell off the ladder. His hammer left a huge hole in the new bath and the ladder fell on top of the toilet, cracking the cistern, Tony broke several of his ribs in the fall.
When he came out of hospital and was feeling ready for action again, he decided to remove an old fireplace. This went slightly better. Tony survived unharmed, but a sharp piece of flying concrete shattered the television set in the corner.
He then decided to paint his garage, so he tied his ladder securely to a window frame and set to work. Unfortunately, he slipped off and fell through a window covering himself and his car with a gallon of paint. As he fell he grabbed on to the window frame and pulled it right out of the wall.
Tony wasn't put off, he decided to tile his hallway and bought some expensive Italian tiles for the job. He stored them at the foot of the stairs ready for work the next morning. But he slipped on his way down and smashed every one.
You'd think he'd give up, but no. Shortly afterwards he was drilling a hole under his kitchen sink. It's a pity that he forgot to empty it first. When the drill went through the sink Tony was covered in a torrent of dirty dishwater and the drill blew up, almost electrocuting him in the process.
Fortunately, his wife understands his obsession and refuses to leave the house when he gets to work -she always hovers close by with the first-aid box in her hand - just in case.

-Nearly everybody I know seems to be obsessed with their diet, what they eat, they spend a lot of time jogging, running about, doing a few exercises, all in an effort to make themselves slim. What do you think about it?
-I think they have the right to be concerned nowadays, really, because there's so much junk food marketed to us, and so little time in which to cook healthy food -yes -that I think, yes, people have the right to be concerned about their health - because how much time does the average person spend exercising? Not very much because they don't have time to, their life is very pressurised.

My name is Dr Jennifer Smith and for seven years I have worked as an examiner for three different examination boards at GCSE, GCE '0' and 'A' level. I must have marked thousands of exam papers and I saw that many candidates were losing marks simply because they did not know what the examiner was looking for nor how they should answer the questions properly.
Having used marking schemes and having been instructed on how to mark exam papers, I came to realise that this information could be of great value to anyone sitting these examinations. So I decided to write a guide, "GCSE & GCE 'A' Level Examination Tips & Hints". In this guide, I tell you: How you can help your examiner to be positive about your papers. How you can encourage your examiner to give you whole marks and not just halves. How much to write... and, even more important, what not to write. How to answer an essay question and questions involving calculations. How exam papers are marked. How to use your time in an examination to pick up extra marks. How to structure your revision.
I believe that the hints given in this guide may improve a candidate's results by 2-5 marks. This may not sound like much, but it could mean the difference between a 'D' and a 'B' at A-level. Of course, there is no substitute for hard work and you can't expect to get marks from nowhere, but you can present what you know in a way that is very likely to pick up those vital extra marks.

-Now I understand you've been to New Zealand, which is a country a very long way away from Europe, and understand that you were there for 3 weeks. Could you tell us something about it'?
-Well, actually, I was there for a month.
-For a month?
-I went over Christmas I spent four weeks in New Zealand which was wonderful because the weather was hot: it was their summer and it was a wonderful contrast from Christmas in England in Europe.
-Hm. Tell us something about the journey because that must be one of the worst things about the travelling to a country like New Zealand. Did it take a long time to recover?

-Oh, yes, well, the journey was a nightmare. The journey was 30 hours sitting close to people, more close than you'd want to sit with your closest friend, like sardines.
-I can imagine.
-For 30 hours. And it was very odd because in New Zealand I had no jet-lag. In New Zealand I got off the plane and I felt all right. When I came back to Budapest I was unwell for a week. I couldn't sleep, I was distorted.
-Which way did you fly to New Zealand? Was it through Asia or through America?
-Through Asia. And came back the same way, and maybe that had something to do with it.
-Yes, it often does. Tell us a little bit about the landscape in New Zealand. Many people think it's

similar to England. Is that true?
-In a way, ...that it's ..it's more dramatic. It looks like England, but the climate is wonderful; they have hills, they have mountains, forests, beautiful sea-shore, all with wonderful weather at the same time and in the South Island they have high mountains with snow and glaciers.
-I should imagine you did a lot of walking.
-Oh, yes, I did a great deal of walking and travelled around New Zealand by train and bus as well.
-Yes.
-And that was quite an experience because there is only one bus or one train a day, so if you miss it you have to come back tomorrow. There is one bus from Napia to Wellington and you catch that or you try again the next day.

-If there's one lasting impression you have of the country, something you would recommend to other people what would it be?
-Well, then it would be the people. Because the people were uniformly kind and hospitable and I've never been treated so well as a foreigner anywhere ever. It's a beautiful country and really very friendly people. I think because they're such a long way away from everybody, that any stranger is welcomed as a voice from somewhere else. Most of them came originally from Britain and they still have very strong ties as they still think of it as the home country, so anybody from there is doubly welcome.

-Well, I think television is a wonderful thing, and when you think how many different kinds of programmes you can watch, documentaries or films or comedies, programmes about music, sports.

-Yes, but I don't think all parents can be relied on. A lot of parents aren't very often there at all. And I think there is a case for saying no violence before 9 o'clock at night.
-A kind of threshold. Well, what about nature programmes? Why not go to the Zoo and watch animals there in the flesh?
-Because in nature programmes you're watching animals in their natural habitats. And I really don't approve of zoos, I'm afraid. No, I don't like seeing any animals locked up in a cage. Personally I'd rather be extinct than locked up in a cage. But that's just a personal point of view.

Finding missing persons has traditionally been a long and tiring process. Today, though, the Internet and digital databases are both changing the chances of success and the amount of time it takes to re-establish a long lost connection.
In the past detectives had to do lots of legwork, and hours of going over city, county and state records was needed to gather information. Gill Robinson, a missing person expert and the owner of a detective agency, says, 'technology has totally overwhelmed this Industry'. It's like a whole different thing than it was four years ago. What nowadays happens is that they're taking all of these public records from all over the United States and putting them into huge databases. You can look nation-wide in county courthouses, and be able to find the exact person that you're looking for by their name and some other identifying information like the date of birth. And its totally changed the industry.
So now in addition to old-style detective work, today's investigators have new electronic tools to give them instant access to information, which will come in a lot of different ways. One thing's the CD-ROM, now there's a CD-ROM of every listed telephone number in America. There are marriage indexes, death indexes, all that sort of thing. Any kind of information you want, it's in a database.
But there are disadvantages to databases on CD-ROM. They are frozen in history, and quickly become outdated. More and more the Internet is becoming a primary source for information retrieval. In addition to fast and easy access, data is constantly updated on-line. Even as we speak, things are going onto the Internet that you can just go in and basically pay someone else to search the databases for you. And it's becoming a lot more accessible to the public. This new technology usually has a positive effect on searching for missing people. It's bringing the cost down, it's making people findable that were never findable before, and it's really making a lot of happy family reunions.

A few years ago the New York Times published a survey which showed that by the year 2000, close to fifty per cent of business travellers would be women. But, as you may well ask, has this made any difference to the way women travelling alone are treated in hotels in London? The answer, incredible as it may sound, is very little.
Women are still ignored by hotel staff in many bars and restaurants because, as the excuse goes, it is assumed they are waiting for husbands or friends. And a woman who takes a group of men out to lunch may well find, if she doesn't look out, that the bill is automatically handed to the most senior-looking male in the party.
There are, however, a few enlightened hotels in London who welcome women alone and do their best to make them comfortable. The Hotel Inter-Continental in London carried out their own survey into what a woman looks for in a hotel and have tailored their facilities accordingly. For instance, they now always have a bellboy on hand at the kerbside to carry luggage, there are double locks on doors, skirt hangers and hair dryers in every room, good bathroom lighting, bathrobes, caps and scales.
They will also take care, if you are dining alone, to give you a table along the wall rather than in the centre of the room. And if you are in the company of business colleagues the waiter will place the bill discreetly in the middle of the table. The hotel offers every possible amenity including a first-class laundry service. Furthermore, the rooms are every bit as luxurious as you'd expect them to be.

I won't visit a country unless I've learned the language. Before you say ,"Isn't that terribly difficult?" let me tell you how it can be done. It's not difficult at all, and it can be exciting.
First, it is not necessary to be fluent in a language. You are going to be in the country for only two or three weeks. I follow two steps. First, I buy a Berlitz "Self-Teacher Book" which has about 40 lessons. Second, I find a tutor. I devote an hour a night to the lessons and finish them in about a month.
Some people might prefer a tutor at the beginning, but I find that a mistake. When you don't know the word for "book", a tutor only slows you down. You simply don't need a tutor to build basic vocabulary.

True, you will be more certain of learning correct pronunciation at the start, but I have never found that a serious problem. Possibly some qualified language teachers will not agree with me. Some will say that a crash course at a language school is the best way. But I don't want to spend two nights a week at a language school, travelling there and back and spending a considerable amount of money. I'd rather get home for dinner and pull out the language book whenever a free hour appears.
It is also true that I am not learning to engage in international diplomacy. I'm learning to have some fun. I'm not likely to use it after the trip, and I'm willing to invest only so much money and energy in the learning process.
So I have now invested 30 hours and I have a basic vocabulary of some 500 words. After an hour a night for one month, you will be amazed at how much you know. Now you get a tutor. I call International House in New York City, which is the residence for 500 foreign students.
At International House, most of the students are delighted to give lessons in their language and earn some money. I spend two hours a week, mostly in simple conversation. The evening before I leave for the country, I try to spend three straight hours with the tutor -perhaps at dinner or walking around the city. We only speak his language.
10 percent of the words he uses I will miss, but I can still follow him. Now and then I have to ask him to repeat slowly what he has just said. But all in all, it works.

A young divorced mother was threatened with jail yesterday for banning her ex-husband's Christmas gifts to their children.
The warning came from England's leading woman judge, who said that children should not be fought over in a battle between divorced parents.
Lord Justice Elisabeth Butler-Sloss had heard in the Appeal Court that the mother sent back unopened presents letters and greeting cards from the father desperate to keep in touch with his 12-year-old son and nine-year-old daughter.
The judge said the mother had been so successful in "detaching them from their natural affections for the father" that they did not want to see him.
"But it is the children's right to have a relationship with both parents," she added.

The mother had appealed against a 28-day suspended prison sentence for failing to pass on presents.
The sentence was overruled, but Lord Justice Butler-Sloss made a new order compelling her to hand over the gifts.

As soon as she passed her driving test, Karen Barnet began saving to put her car -a birthday present -on the road, Just three months later, Karen, who is 20, was ready to go, so she started telephoning around to get some insurance quotes.
"I'd heard that the prices could vary enormously, so I was determined to find myself a good one,"
But each insurance company quoted her very high prices, She was just about to lose heart when at last one day she spotted on an advertisement in the local newspaper for car insurance that read: "Don't be penalised because you are young, over 50 or have car convictions","
It seemed to be the answer to her problems, so she called the number, "The man was very friendly and helpful," says Karen, "He gave me a quote for 190, which was a lot cheaper than anywhere else."
The next day Karen phoned again to get some more details, "I was asked to send the money right away but I said I did not like the sound of that," she explains, "He seemed very understanding -we even shared a joke about letting people take advantage of you, We agreed that I'd pay on my credit card after I'd received a note from the company."
The note arrived the next day and Karen went straight to the Post Office to get her car taxed.
"I was really pleased with myself and started driving my car everywhere, I told all my friends about the insurance company and promised to pass on details so they could save money, too,"
The first clue that something was wrong was when Karen tried to call the company to give her credit card details. "I could not get through: the operator told me there was a fault on the line, I kept trying, and two weeks later, I had my call answered by someone saying that the company did not exist, had gone off with everyone's money and that as my insurance is not valid it was illegal for me to be driving around in my car."

A top model was molested by a waiter as she travelled on a crowded Tube train, a court heard yesterday.
Suzanne Brind, who displays swimwear for fashion magazines, claimed - Turkish-born Erol Sensever continually rubbed against her.
Dressed in a stylish jacket and trousers, she said: "I felt somebody very close. I thought it may be the movement of the train. But I realised later it wasn't, that it was on purpose. I looked round and I saw a foreign looking man. It was just .going through my mind that this could be on purpose."
The alleged assault took place during the London rush-hour on a day when temperatures hit 35 degrees.
Police followed Sensever onto the train after they saw him watching women on the platform at Oxford Circus on July 9 last year.
Sheila Gaylord, prosecuting, told Southwark Crown Court: "He stood right behind the victim."
When Sensever, who had been drinking, stepped off the train he was arrested. Sensever denies indecently assaulting Miss Brind.

Building your own home from start to finish is an exciting but baffling experience. You have to decide on every aspect of the house, from the number of bed-rooms to the downstairs cloakroom, before committing your plans to the local authority.
Start off by touring show houses on new developments, study books of plans, look at the brochures and show houses of design companies.
You may not come across the home you want but you will build up an extensive list of features that appeal to you and those you would not have at any price Decide what you want room by room, starting at the front door. Do you want an impressive front entrance? What is the maximum number of people you want to sit around the dining table?
Do you want the master bedroom to be as big as possible, even if it means making the others smaller?
Do you want to have a dream kitchen and bathroom? If so, it's cheaper to get it done now than

Consider the shape of the house as well as the interior planning. Bear in mind the site it will have to fit into and remember that unconventional shapes will add to the overall costs.
Think ahead. If you may need an extra bathroom later, allow for it in the drainage.
Plan for imaginative concealed lighting now rather than after the plasterer has started work.
Don't forget to give due attention to the garage. Do you want it to be integral or separate? Single or double?
The house size is also important. Self-building costs between 28 and 33 a square foot. As a rough guide, a three-bedroom detached house is about 1,000 square feet. Sixteen hundred square feet will give you a spacious four-bedroomed, two-bathroomed home.
When you have a rough idea of what you want, you can begin thinking of design. You can have an architect or design service make a new plan or adapt one of their own designs or take one from one of the many books of plans available.

... And now the latest news on the sensational "Mole Gang" attempt to rob the Central Bank last night. The would-be robbers chose a most unusual method of reaching their goal -the underground strong-room of the Central Bank.
Rather than trying to enter it through the main Bank building, they followed the complicated system of underground passages that lies under the ancient city. By digging they managed to create a route over two kilometres to the main sewer which runs only 20 metres from the strong-room of the bank.
Then they started digging through the soft soil between the sewer and the bank. The thieves' route has been traced by the police who arrested most of the gang this morning.
The tunnel they had dug started in the North District, passed the main bus station, then they joined the main town sewer -a very smelly business. Then they passed under the cathedral, went along an underground river and they were just one metre away from the success when the police, who had received a phone call to warn them of the attempt,. caught up with them.
A police spokesman said earlier today. "I'd rather admired them. It must have taken them months to cover the distance. It was almost a pity to stop them.
Of course, what they did not know was that, since this sort of underground crime has become so frequent in recent years, the police now have a computerised map of most of the tunnels that exist under the city."

And now for a special report on the scandal of the yellow bike, which has been the talk of the town in the past few days. You may remember that the town council decided to copy countries like Holland and Denmark and make free communal bikes available for anyone in town who wishes to use them. Last Sunday was to be an experiment. It was a disaster. Only 100 of the 500 special yellow bikes given out have been found at all and many of them were damaged.
