The Revelation of Jesus Christ

Study Guide #6 The Revelation of Jesus Christ 1.What is the book of Revelation a revelation of? Revelation 1:1, The __________ of _______ ________, which God gave unto him, to shew unto his servants things which must shortly come to pass; and he sent and signified it by his angel unto his servant John: NOTE: Although, the book of Revelation speaks of many disturbing things, like beasts, and all sorts of colorful imagery. The grand theme of the book of Revelation is not beasts, but the theme of its pages is Jesus Christ. And it reveals who He is. There are many religious leaders who say: The book of Revelation is not to be understood. Maybe they have forgotten what the very first verse of the book has to say. It is a revelation, revealing of Jesus Christ. 2.Who is the blessing of Revelation promised to? 2

Revelation 1:3, Blessed is he that ________, and they that ______ the words of this prophecy, and ______ those things which are written therein: for the time is at hand. NOTE: The blessing is only experienced when you read, hear, and keep. Now, there are many people who merely read the book of Revelation, and yet never experience the blessing. The strange symbols did not make sense to them, and after they finished they were still confused. So, we must hear. Biblically speaking what does it mean to hear? When Jesus in Chapter 2 of Revelation speaks to the seven churches, he repeats the following phrase many times, He that hath an ear, let him hear. Hearing does not only mean to hear it audibly, but biblically speaking it means to understand. So, we must learn to understand the book of Revelation. But, there is one more step in this sequence. We must keep what we read, and what we hear (understand). A person may know what every symbol in the book of Revelation stand for, and still that person can be lost. To keep it means, to take its meaning with you wherever you go. In other words, it means to apply the truths in Revelation to the choices you make in your everyday life experience. When we co-operate with God, in these three parameters, we will be blessed indeed! 3.Who was the book of Revelation written for? Revelation 1:4, John to ___ _____ _______ _____ are in _____: Grace be unto you, and peace, from him which is, and which was, and which is to come; and from the seven Spirits which are before his throne; NOTE: So, the letter was intended for the seven churches in Asia. This Asia, that the Bible speaks of is not our modern 3

day Asia, but Asia Minor, around the geographic location of Turkey today. But as we will see in our next lesson that there are many applications for us to learn today. 4.What two incredible things did Jesus do for humanity? Revelation 1:5, And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that _____ ___, and _______ __ from our sins in his own blood, NOTE: Talk is cheap. Today, on the radio waves many popular songs are about love. Jesus showed His love to every human being by His death. And by his death we are washed from our past life of sin, and when we accept Him as our Lord and Savior, His life, takes the place of our life. No other individual that has ever lived can free the sinner from guilt, shame, and sin. Only one can do it, and His name is Jesus Christ. As, the apostle Paul said in Galatians 2:20 > I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me. 5.What will the great majority of the people of the earth do when Christ comes? Revelation 1:7, Behold, he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him, and they also which pierced him: and ____ _______ of the _____ shall ______ because of him. Even so, Amen. NOTE: Contrary to popular belief today, the Bible says when Christ comes the second time, it will not be a day of unity, a day of peace, but the Bible describes it as a day of wailing 4

or, as the original Greek language brings out, to beat ones chest in agony. Why? Because the great majority of people on this planet are not ready for this event, would you like to be ready for His coming? This is what this series of studies is all about, how to meet Him with joy when He comes. 6.Where does John see Jesus? Revelation 1:12-13, And I turned to see the voice that spake with me. And being turned, I saw ______ _______ _________; And in the midst of the _______ __________ one like unto the ____ ____ ____, clothed with a garment down to the foot, and girt about the paps with a golden girdle. NOTE: When John sees Jesus in vision, he sees Him in the midst of the seven golden candlesticks. Why is this important? Jesus here is in the holy place which is the second part of the sanctuary. The last compartment is the Most Holy Place and that is where in the earthly sanctuary judgment was made once a year, and that was called the day of atonement. So, here we see Jesus before the judgment takes place. 7.How can Jesus have the keys of hell and death? Revelation 1:18, I am he that _______, and was ______; and, behold, I am alive ____ _______, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death. NOTE: Words here cannot begin to describe the import of this Bible verse. The verse begins by describing the present day reality. Jesus says, I am he that liveth. Jesus says, the same thing to you. I AM HE THAT LIVES, present tense. The verse continues and was dead. This is speaking 5

of what happened to Jesus in the past. And now the best part, I AM ALIVE FOR EVERMORE. This is the most important statement in the history of humanity. Someone has truly cheated death, and they will never die. And the best news for you and I is that power is available to you and me through accepting Jesus Christ as your Savior from the sinful nature that we all possess. MY DECISION FOR JESUS I can see that Jesus is not a God that is like the other gods. He is special. He is alive today. Would you like to accept the keys that Jesus has available. These keys are not literal of course, in the aspect that they are physical, tangible keys. But, they are literal in their meaning. You see each one of us has been locked if you will, by the fear of death. We each all are by nature, afraid to die, we all know that it will happen to each of us. We are as it were locked into this fear. But, because of the perfect life of Jesus Christ, and His death, and His resurrection, the fear that has locked us for all our lives has been broken by the keys that Jesus extends to each of us, the keys of hell (grave) and death. Would you like to accept Him as your personal savior today? Yes or No
