LONDON'S TEENAGERS SAY "YES" TO

PART-TIME JOBS!
A recent survey of teen-agers' opinions
shows that part-time jobs are a good idea.
Over one thousand young people took part
in the survey.
The great majority (over80%) said that parttime jobs provide them with extra money.
Typical part-time jobs were delivering
newspapers(boring,but the money is good),
working in shops on Saturday morning(hard
work but you learn a lot about
people),helping parents(an amazing number
of parents pay their sons and daughters to
clean the family car),and gardening(popular
with girls).
But does part-time work have a bad effect
on school work and homework?
Some teachers are worried about this. They
say that examinations are very
important,and that is necessary for students
to work hard at school.

Their opinion is that some part-time work is

a good thing."But school work should
always come first",one headmistress told
us.
But young people have no doubts.
"Part-time work is necessary,",they say."It
gives us some experience of life,and the
money is very useful. The government is
reducing financial help to students,so we
have to get some money to pay for our
college education".
