The fall seasons first major southern storm is brewing...taking shape over the SW in CA and AZ, and then...the western Gulf of Mexico, W TX...noreaster by Thanksgiving?? A potentially finicky cut-off low across the SW states will eventually become an important weather maker for the Southern states from parched CA and AZ to the even dry Carolinas. Much of Texas will see 2-4 (even some 5+) inch totals (least in W TX) as will Arizona, LA, MS, AL, GA and the Carolinas by the middle of next week.

The morning QPF output from NOAA has 5 inch totals in C AZ, 3 inch totals in E TX, E OK and AR and 1-2 inch totals in KY, TN, MS, AL, GA and SC over the next 7 days...still open to debate as the systems track and timing is still very uncertain.
