STAGE 1: DESIRED RESULTS Content Standards (GLCEs, HSCEs, Common Core) Essential Question(s)
CCSS.Math.Content.6.NS.B.3 Fluently add, subtract, multiply, and divide multi-digit decimals using the standard algorithm for each operation.

Can you add and subtract decimals? Can you add and subtract decimals through the method of estimation? Can you round decimals to whole numbers, tenths places and hundredths places? Understanding Goal(s) Students will deepen their understanding of decimals and perform different computations involving decimals Student Learning Students will determine the sum and difference of two decimals Outcome(s) Students will estimate the sum of two decimals Students will round decimals to whole number, tenths places and hundredths places. STAGE 2: ASSESSMENT EVIDENCE Formative Performance Tasks Students will correct homework through popcorn reading, I will judge their understanding based on whether or not they answer questions correctly Additionally we will go over any homework problems that people had questions on. After writing on the board, I will ask if anyone did it correctly and if someone did I will have them walk them through it. Asking for volunteers shows me which students are confident in their ability to solve the problem Completion of the iBook will show that they understand the material How far the get on the homework for the next day Summative Quiz that is taking place the next day Formative Other Evidence (observations, questioning) Walking around during the iPad time to determine how well students understand the information Ask students questions as they are completing the iPad work: o Why did you line up the decimals? o Why did you round that to a whole number? o Where is the tenths place? I will also look at what types of questions students ask me. I will look for whether or not students are asking higher level thinking questions or simple content questions.

STAGE 3: LEARNING PLAN

Additionally, the iBook is meant to reach all learners because there is information to draw, do practice problems, interactive activities to use, and diagrams to look at. Students who complete the iBook quickly are allowed to begin the homework for tonight to begin to review for the assessment tomorrow. I left plenty of time to complete the iBook so students who are struggling have a chance to have a better understanding of the material before their quiz None None None
