The Safe School Action Plan is part of the Comprehensive Safe School Plan and will be evaluated and amended by the School Site Council or School Safety Planning Committee prior to March 1 of every year.

Safe School Action Plan MARY BRAGG ELEMENTARY Component 1 Goal: To provide a safe school environment Objective: To annually review and update essential safety plans and procedures. Action Plan: 1. Establish School Safety Committee with broad representation of stakeholder groups. 2. Schedule and publish meeting dates for School Safety Committee. 3. Survey staff to discern who has prior training, skills, interest and aptitude for each assignment in the Safe School Plan. 4. Update Incident Command organizational chart and staff assignments based upon survey. 5. Update staff contact list. 6. Update district and community contacts phone list. 7. Review, amend, and distribute School Safety Plan. 8. Update classroom go kits. 9. Inventory and update emergency supplies. 10. Check all school radios. 11. Have staff pick classroom buddy to check on each other during an evacuation. Publish list. 12. Schedule emergency drills on master calendar. Record drills as they occur. 13. Ensure school emergency disaster shed contains current and accurate lists: 1.) copies of yellow cards for release information, 2.) special needs information (confidential), 3.) sufficient forms and documents for student release. 14. Train team leaders. 15. Review emergency procedures at a staff meeting. 16. Provide trainings for staff, as needed. Dates August 2013 June 2014 Person(s) Responsible

Safe School Action Plan MARY BRAGG ELEMENTARY Component 2 Goal: To provide a safe teaching and learning environment Objective: To annually review and update the school discipline and behavior policies and practices. Action Plan: 1. Update and distribute Discipline and Behavior Policy school-wide. 2. Update and review discipline referral forms and procedures with staff annually. 3. Review Student Study Team purpose and procedures annually. 4. Establish a protocol for teachers and office staff to follow for support if the principal is not available. Share with staff. 5. Coordinate with school psychologist to organize counseling groups i.e. PIP, Counselor Interns, CRT. 6. Offer trainings on how to meet the needs of all students in the classroom, i.e. strategies for ADHD, students on the autism spectrum. Dates August 2013 June 2014 Person(s) Responsible

Safe School Action Plan MARY BRAGG ELEMENTARY Component 3 Goal: To provide a safe environment ~ to and from school. Objective: To review ingress and egress practices and procedures. Action Plan: 1. Meet with City Planner for Cerritos to follow up on meeting in spring of 2013 regarding addition of a driveway along Gridley to relieve congestion in parking lot. 2. Distribute parking diagram and procedures for safe ingress and egress annually. Post on school website. 3. Review before school procedures with staff (supervision aides, teachers, office staff) including the handling of students who are tardy. 4. Update after school pickup practices with School Safety Committee. 5. Review after school procedures with staff. Dates August 2013 June 2014 Person(s) Responsible
