Annotated Bibliography 1.) Childrens Rights. (n.d.). Facts about foster care. Retrieved from http://www.childrensrights.

org/issues-resources/foster-care/facts-about-foster-care/ This article gives statistics on factors that have influenced children and young adults who have been left without parents to raise them. Factors include things such as medical diseases, abuse and neglect, along with serious emotional problems. This connects to my research since it allows the reader to understand why so many kids are aging out of foster care. By understanding the statistics the readers realize how it would be beneficial to allow homosexual couples to adopt children, the higher number of homosexual couples willing to adopt will cause less orphaned kids. 2.)Conger D. & Finkelstein M. The Journal of Negro Education , Vol. 72, No. 1, Student Mobility: How Some Children Get Left Behind (Winter, 2003), pp. 97-103 This article gives information about obstacles that children face in foster care. Children face lack of education and the struggle of school mobility. These issues impact children and lead them to have lower educational performance, lower high school graduating rates, and lower percentages to attend college compared to non- foster children. This connects to my research because individuals reading this will now understand the hardships that children in foster care.

Retrieved from http://www.psychologytoday.com/blog/our-gender-ourselves/201205/gayparents-raising-kids-how-will-they-fare This article focused on the psychological effects that children with homosexuals parents end up having. It informs us mental issues that may occur to them. It then goes on to explain that the children who are raised by homosexuals result with differences in their achievements. This article educates that psychologically kids become more open-minded as well as less bound and less restricted by the stereotypes. This intertwines with my research in that homosexuality can lead to the impacts on a childrens state of mind.

4.)Love and Pride (n.d) Gay Adoption Retrieved From https://www.loveandpride.com/GayAdoption This article explains some of the difficulties homosexuals face when going through the adoption process. It informs us how things such as discriminatory language, difficulty getting approved, and state laws all play a large role on the decisions why they get rejected or accepted by adoption companies. It then goes on to tell that there is a boundary between heterosexuals adopting and homosexuals adopting. This intertwines

2 with my research in that homosexuality is legal, and protected by some states, although it continues to be frowned upon in other communities.

5.) Gary, G. (2001). How many people are lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender. The William Institute, Retrieved from http://williamsinstitute.law.ucla.edu/wpcontent/uploads/Gates-How-Many-People-LGBT-Apr-2011.pdf This article gives specific statistics on the percentage of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender populations. It informs us that 3.5% of the population in the United States identify themselves as LBGT (lesbian, bisexual, gay or transgender), which are roughly about 9 million people. It then goes on to tell us that the female gender is most likely to identify them first. This fits into the research because this article gives the statistics of those individuals, which include themselves within the homosexual population.

6.)The Washington Post, (2013) Same sex-marriage status in the U.S. Retrieved from http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-srv/special/politics/same-sex-marriage/ This piece informs which specific states allow same sex marriage though the usage of demographics. It also gives reasons why it is legal in fourteen states. It then explains how public acknowledgement cannot be prohibited due to the fact that it is viewed as unconstitutional. In addition this article allows readers to acknowledge which political party and which age groups favors gay marriage the most. This connects into the research because understanding the over all percentages influences states to have their laws changed.

Retrieved from http://www.childrensrights.org/issues-resources/foster-care/facts-about-aging-out/ This article gives statistics on the percentage of children aging out of foster care previous to the year 2013. It educates that there was a total of 400,000 children in foster care systems through out the United States in the year 2011. It then informs that eleven percent of this population or 26,000 children aged out of foster care. This fits into the research because it gives reasoning that as years go by the number of kids aging out will continue to rise.

This piece educates on the discriminations made towards the gay community and same sex marriage. It informs the reader that there is no constitutional basis for denying gay marriage. It then goes on to explain that the illegalization of marriage among homosexuals violates the Due Process Clause. It then elaborates that in Declaration of Independence preservation of tradition is nowhere cited as any type of power to be followed by our government. This fits into the research because it supports homosexuals reasoning to get married and why it is acceptable for this community to have their own family.
