COMPETENCY APPRAISAL 2

Josie Jane is experiencing severe muscle weakness, severe hypotension, irritability and confusion and hypoglycemia. She seeks advice from her attending physician regarding treatment of the condition.

After laboratory examinations, a diagnosis of Addisons Crisis was made. Josie needs to be confined for total laboratory work up and care.

Family history reveals that a sibling of Josie was diagnosed to have Cushing syndrome, while another one with Conns Disease.

Elias is a 5 years old executive, who complains of episodes of oliguria and hypotension. He consults, and several laboratory examinations were ordered to establish a diagnosis. Routine blood, urine studies are done and other diagnostic examinations are employed. A diagnosis of Acute Renal Failure was confirmed. Elias had history of acute glomerulonephritis when he was 10 years old. The goal of care for ARF is to reestablish effective renal function. Supportive measures are also encouraged, to include management of diet. Elias is admitted for treatment and necessary/appropriate nursing care.
