ACADEMIC AND CAREER ADVISING


Many services are offered here, from getting

started at SLCC, setting up an academic plan and/or class schedule, and even reviewing academic progress. The helpful academic advisors will assist in selecting a college major or even switching majors, review degree requirements, and even transferring SLCC credits to other institutions. The office also offers many different activities to First Year students in order for them to succeed: Career Services, Accuplacer Placement Test Workshops, Peer Mentoring, Academic Standards, and Specialized Advising. The office is open Monday thru Fridays from 8 am to 7 pm, except on Tuesdays, when it opens at 11 am. Hours are scheduled to change during registration time. Appointments are not necessary.

ENROLLMENT SERVICES
Now known as the Office of

the Registrar and Academic Records. All of SLCCs student records from application to degree conferral are kept here. The office assists student through certain departments: Admissions, Appeals, Enrollment Verifications, Graduation, Incoming Transcripts, Registration, and Residency are examples of a few. The office is open on Monday thru Thursday from 8 am to 7 pm, and on Fridays from 8 am to 4:30 pm.

To have any access, you must be a

currently enrolled student. The center provides students access to medical services, counseling, health promotion, and massages. Your first visit to the center is no charge. SLCC students are entitled to receive a no charge massage session each semester enrolled as student. But appointments must be made well in advance because spaces fill up very quickly. Payments for services and/or labs are due at the time of service. If you are a no-show or fail to give a 24hour notice to cancellation or reschedule, a $10 fee will be charged.

WRITING CENTER

WRITING CENTER
The center helps students improve in their

writing skills for any class. Sessions are free, in-person, and even online. There are also many writing resources for students and teachers, and sponsor workshops about writing and the teaching of writing. It is recommended to be prepared before a session by keeping in mind, preferably jotting down, a few points like who you are writing to, what you dont understand, and how much time you have. Also bring along the assignment sheet the instructor gave you, any drafts, notes, reading materials, etc. that relate directly to what you are writing. While the center has a variety of materials, mainly books at the Taylorsville Redwood Campus, materials may only be used at in the Center.

The DRC is on a mission to help students

who are attending Salt Lake Community College through several processes with educational growth by providing understandable support in new personal ways in respect and caring. This center provides responsible and appropriate timing conditions by setting goals for students with equal opportunities that have been required under the ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act). Students can also establish partnerships with the administration and faculty through certain steps of understanding and respect. You are also provided with educational information by the DRC that has proper documentation for those who have physical or mental disabilities.

Salt Lake Community College

provides several different clubs and activities to unite students who have similar interests to gather to experience great opportunities or become good leaders. These groups or clubs can help students build their social skills, as well as getting involved more in their community with others, and developing their own leadership over time. You can also create your own by giving your name, purposing a mission, at least have five students signed up who are enrolled at SLCC, and every club needs to have an advisor.

system gives students access to electronic databases that include online resources, videos, movies, ebooks, e-journals, and more.
The Library staff provides all

students with the e-Portfolio, basic tools to do your research, and online training to help you search for information you need for your classes.

FINANCIAL AID

The mission: help obtain the resources so

that the students can achieve their goal and fulfill their dreams. One of the most important steps is not to forget to apply at www.fafsa.ed.gov and also it may take weeks to receive your financial aid award. What are the types of Financial Aid and they include: Grants, Loans, and Employment. Grants are that you dont need to repay them, Loans are you need to repay that is if the student is no longer attending at least six credits Employment is a college work-study which are available to students that needs financial who are attending at least haft time. The awards for employment offered from $1,000 to $5,000 and required to repay when funds are earned.
