Ms. Britton demonstrates more confidence and maturity this spring. She arrives each morning ready to tackle whatever is required and assist with preparations. She shows initiative in the classroom, takes actions to prevent squabbles among children and interacts pleasantly with co-op students, EA's, planning time teachers and our SERT. It has been my pleasure having you in our classroom. All the best next semester.

Commitment to Pupils and Pupil Learning Shows care and commitment to students and to teaching, Treats pupils equitably and with respect

PASS DNME X X X X X X X

Comments (Please elaborate on strengths/areas for growth): Because this week was a culmination of our "letters of the week", most planning was already completed in advance. Kim's lesson included a detailed "modeling" of how to draw a self-portrait for our class alphabet book. The childrens' drawings indicated that they understood her instructions well. Kim set up the classroom environment and selected appropriate resources (Rd. Dr. Seuss' ABC, showed DVD Chica Chica Boom, Boom ABC).

Professional Knowledge - Implementing and Assessing Engages the students Uses instructional strategies which facilitate learning Uses technologies and resources Provides a consolidation and application task Matches assessment strategy(s) to lesson Aware of pacing and timing and the need to be flexible

PASS DNME X X X X X X

Comments (Please elaborate on strengths/areas for growth): Because our "Alphabet Day" included a rotation of 3 classrooms through our planned activity, Kim was able to adjust the pacing and timing of the lesson and activity to fit the time allotted (which varied from one group to another).

Management and Communication Practices Models communication practices (voice, spoken/written language,...) Uses questioning techniques (wait time) Promotes a positive and collaborative learning environment Awareness of off-task behaviour Awareness of classroom rules and routines

PASS DNME X X X X X

Comments (Please elaborate on strengths/areas for growth): Kim promoted a risk-free learning environment. She demonstrated a good understanding of classroom management strategies and applied them to classroom expectations regarding student conduct to ensure that they stayed on task.
