Danyas Goals

Goal Why this goal is important based on assessment results, research (Tompkins, etc.), and Common Core Standard addressed.
It is important for Danya to be able to comprehend what she is reading. s indicated by the C!I she is reading at level ". #he was not able to retell the level story or provide details from the reading to support. $his is why the main focus of the lessons will be comprehension. ccording to Literacy for the 21st Century 4th edition by Gail . $omp%ins &#tudent's must comprehend what they are reading to learn from the experience( they must ma%e sense of their reading to maintain interest( and they must derive pleasure from reading to become lifelong readers.' )pg.**"+ ,y building Danya's comprehension of texts at her ZPD it will help with her understanding of -th grade texts. CC##../ 0/iteracy.!/.-.1 2a%e connections between the text of a story or drama and a visual or oral presentation of the text3 identifying where each version reflects specific descriptions and directions in the text. $he writing that I had Danya complete showed that she does not set up sentence structure very well. #he can write and %nows what she wants to say. $he .#I showed that she is late within affixes and prefixes3 so her spelling of words within the sample showed this trend. $his goal will help her build her sense of writing and connect it to real situations to better convey ideas and information. It will also help with word study and build her sense of -th grade vocabulary words. Danya mentioned during the reading attitude survey that she does not en4oy reading aloud. Providing more chances for her to read aloud will change this for her. 8aving a text that is at her reading level to read aloud will help to get her to be comfortable reading aloud grade level materials. It is important that Danya read with sufficient accuracy and fluency to support comprehension as stated in the Common Core #tandard. ccording

Ho you ill document!pro"ide e"idence that you and the student are orking on the goal I provided Danya with a 4ournal that she will be writing down all the activities that we do during guided reading. $his will included all three parts of before3 after3 and post reading. I will also be having Danya create a mini boo% of the stories after we have read them to show comprehension that I will print out to include in her portfolio.

Danya will be writing about the adventures her 7lat #tanley goes on during the sessions. #he will write in a 4ournal the experiences. I will then print out the pictures towards the end of the sessions as well as type her responses to the 4ourneys and include them in her portfolio.
