Davenport 1 Craig Davenport Mrs. Raymond English 1101 25 November 2013 Semester in a Memory Dear Mrs.

Raymond After this semester in English 1101, many things have come to my attention. I feel that my best entry was the first essay, the literacy narrative. Being able to talk about my experiences I was able to pour a lot more personal emotion and insight into the paper. I really enjoyed reflecting on the different aspects of my life that have built me into the literate person I am today. Throughout the semester, all of the peer editing that was done in classes I did not find to be extremely helpful in getting criticism from my peers. However, I did find it very beneficial to read my essay out loud because the majority of the corrections I made from the rough draft to the final version of these essays I was able to find myself while reading over the paper. The best advice I received from the peer editing periods was during the informative essay. I referred to UNC Charlottes motorsports department as the motorsports program too many times throughout a single paragraph and I was told to find other ways to refer to the program. I made sure to address that issue in my essay and in the end it turned out much better than it would have. So, I do feel that the peer-editing is very beneficial, it just all depends on how students use their time. As a writer, having all of the papers and essays and projects composed throughout this semester in a single portfolio is really something special. My skills as a writer is showcased in each and every assignment on my Weebly. Since my writing portfolio is a website, any one is able to view all of my

Davenport 2 works from this semester and I am able to display my writing abilities to the world. This ties into my literacy narrative. Having come so far and learning so much to put toward my writing abilities I am able to let other people in and show them just how much my literacy narrative has evolved. Now that the semester is coming to a close and this writing portfolio has been completed, I am very proud of my growth over the last sixteen weeks. I would like to thank you, Mrs. Raymond, for your input and support as my professor. My literacy narrative will continue to mature and evolve, and this semester will be more than a memory, it is a milestone.

Sincerely, Craig Davenport
